How YOU will make a Difference:
The Intake Specialist is responsible for managing all incoming calls for prior authorizations. Advocates in this position obtain clinical and demographic information to determine authorization requirements and create cases for review. Advocates ensure requests are set up accurately, auto certified when appropriate and request clinical documentation for nurse reviews when necessary.
What you will do:
- Manage and document inquiries for prior authorizations
- Verify eligibility and plan requirements
- Appropriately triage the labeling and distribution of incoming and outgoing department faxes
- Collaborate with nurses for case processing
- Adhere to Department of Labor guidelines in response to prior authorization inquires, approvals and denials
- Adhere Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act in response to prior authorization inquires, approvals and denials
- Assist members in understanding their authorization, denials and appeal rights
Knowledge, Experience, and Key Attributes needed for Success:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Business Knowledge:
- Foundational knowledge of the care management function, plan requirements, and eligible services
- Familiarity with medical terminology through course work and certification or previous on the job experience
- Excellent communication skills both in writing and verbal
- Previous experience working in a medical or healthcare field is preferred
- Service Oriented: Provides positive, supportive, and informational assistance
- Highly Organized/Attention to Detail: Data entry accuracy and attention to detail and follow-up
- Troubleshooting: Ability to identify issues and effectively route the request
Compensation
The base salary range for this position in the greater Seattle area is $23/hour for a level I and varies dependent on geography, skills, experience, education, and other job or market-related factors. While we are looking for level I, we may consider level II for highly qualified candidates with a base hourly range of $25-$27 per hour.
