Overview
Holcim US is hiring a full-time Truck Mechanic in the Metairie, LA area.
Responsible for maintaining the mobile equipment fleet in a state readiness. Performs the appropriate vehicle/mobile equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Performs required vehicle/mobile equipment repair maintenance. Informs supervisor of vehicle condition that could impact readiness. Prepares all required daily/weekly operating reports as required.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As directed and guided by the Maintenance Manager, the responsibilities of the position include:
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment failures. Provide repair and maintenance to diesel and gasoline engines. Adjust and repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic and steering systems.
- Maintain and repair chassis, frames and bodies.
- Work with hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges and meters.
- Lubricate equipment. Maintain and repair tires, batteries, brakes and valves.
- Perform shop management functions such as maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventory control; making estimates of material, labor, and equipment requirements.
- Performs inspections on completed jobs; ensures conformance with policies and procedures, safety codes. Ensures proper documentation of maintenance and repair activities in logs and/or incident reports.
- Maintain an effective system of communications with supervisors and customers
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Required Education: High School diploma/GED
Additional Education Preferred: Some technical education preferred
Required Work Experience: 1 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Required Training/Certifications: Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems and welding skills desired.
Licenses Preferred: Class B CDL required
Required Computer and Software Skills: working proficiency with computers
Travel Requirements: Minimal
Additional Requirements:
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English)
- Familiarity with haul trucks, loaders, and various mine equipment
- Ability to work independently, self-starter, yet able to participate within a team environment
