As a Funeral Director, your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate care to the deceased in a dignified manner. This involves performing a range of duties, such as funeral planning, memorial services, graveside services, removals and transfers, cosmetology, dressing, hair styling, and other necessary preparations to ensure the deceased are presented with the utmost respect and care.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures every client family is presented with all service and merchandise options.
  • Acts to improve market share through participation in community events, groups and/or organizations and other community relationships as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Carries out other projects/duties as assigned i.e. car washing, building/equipment repair, pre-need arrangement planning.
  • Works on-call/first call, in rotation as assigned i.e. phone, face to face, at the hospital, hospice, residence.
  • Meets with client families to listen, educate and arrange personalized funeral services and ensures their experience with the business is of the highest quality.
  • Ensures proper paperwork, including permits and certificates are completed timely and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conducts and attends funeral services regularly.
  • Lead all post service follow-up as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed in MS or have the ability to become licensed in MS before start date.
  • 2 years of funeral industry experience
  • Professional communication skills with experience handling sensitive situations.
  • Knowledge of current federal, state, and local regulations related to the funeral industry.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Microsoft Office: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Funeral directing: 2 years (Required)
  • Computer skills: 4 years (Preferred)

Language:

  • English (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Funeral Director License (Required)

Shift availability:

  • Day Shift (Required)
  • Night Shift (Preferred)
  • Overnight Shift (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Moss Point, MS 39563: Relocate before starting work (Required)
