What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Phlebotomist position at Home Health Consultants?
Home Health Now is based in Pembroke Pines and is seeking to hire a full-time Phlebotomist. The phlebotomist will work under the direct supervision of a Laboratory Manager and will be responsible of the collections of blood specimens for use by clinicians and/or Medical Technologists in clinical analyses, evaluations and/or diagnostic purposes.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draws blood specimens from patients by using finger stick, heel stick and/or venipuncture.
- Obtain blood samples in a manner that ensures maximum safety and comfort for the patient.
- Collects throat culture specimens.
- Greets patients and instructs them in proper specimen collection methods.
- Labels specimens for identification purposes and enters specimen data into computer.
- Prepares specimens for reference laboratory by using centrifuge to spin blood.
- Maintains alphabetical filing system for patient information.
- Writes test results sent from reference laboratory into patient report; distributes report to clinicians.
- Answers telephone calls and routes calls to appropriate member of the medical or laboratory staff.
- Inventories and requisitions medical laboratory supplies; stocks work area as needed.
- Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
- Support staff in assigned project based work.
- Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
- Research test/client information to confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems or directory of services.
- With appropriate training, act as mentor and resource for new employees, assisting with transition into the work environment and the familiarity with established procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Requires a High School Diploma, or equivalent.
- Phlebotomy Certificate.
- CPR Certificate.
- OSHA Certificate.
- At least 1 years of experience in drawing blood specimens.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and health care facility setting.
Responsibilities:
