Based upon the Rent Control and Rent Stabilization laws and regulations, and guidance from the supervisor, the candidate will assist with owner registration initiatives, analysis and investigation of rent increase claims by owners, analyzing demographics in neighborhoods with vulnerable tenant populations, working with tenant organizations, and assisting in the development of new initiatives in order to stop the shrinking of affordable housing in various neighborhoods in New York City. Some of the duties include: preparing correspondence to owners based on audit findings, reviewing agency case files and databases, as well as other municipal databases in an effort to collect and disseminate evidence of potential landlord fraud and systemic non-compliance.
