Job Summary:

Coordinates the quality assurance standards in the facility and assures accurate clinical records to ensure high quality care to the residents.

Essential Functions:

1. Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as well as personnel matters as confidential information.
2. Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
3. Reviews quality assurance standards, studies existing resident policies and procedures and interviews residents to evaluate effectiveness of the quality assurance program.
4. Writes and recommends quality assurance policies and procedures.
5. Coordinates the Quality Assurance committee.
6. Compiles statistical data and writes narrative reports summarizing quality assurance findings.
7. Coordinates Quality Assurance of the infection control program, monitoring of incident reports and medication errors and tracking of psycho tropic drugs.
8. Coordinates annual immunization of residents for influenza, and supervises the administration of Pneumovax as recommended by the State Health Department.
9. Coordinates and monitors the administration of Hepatitis B vaccine, and Tuberculosis test to all co-workers as outlined by OSHA regulations.
10. Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

1. Current RN in the state employed.
2. Ability to speak in front of groups with enthusiasm.
3. Experience in geriatrics.
4. Has compassion, understanding and empathy for older persons.
5. Possesses management ability including skills in written and verbal communication, good judgment and reasoning and coaching.
6. Understands management, delegation and motivational concepts.
7. Detailed and results focused with consistency.
8. Must have analytical skills in identifying and solving problems.
9. Ability to work pro-actively at quality assurance issues rather reactive.

Physical Requirements:

This position would include responsibilities of leadership in nursing. Standing and walking distances constantly throughout the campus would be required during the shift in evaluating residents and supporting line staff and respond to emergency needs of the Retirement Community. Ability to lift 30 pounds in assisting co-workers with resident lifts, transfers, etc. several times throughout the shift. Must be able to react quickly and decisively in emergencies and in unexpected behavior of residents.
