DESCRIPTION:
The Special Education Professional Development Coordinator collaborates with the Director of Special Education and the Department Chair of Special Education to perform the following duties:
- Plan and facilitate New Educator Induction Week for paraprofessionals. The induction week occurs from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the last week of July.
- Create a professional learning calendar (late start Wednesdays) that aligns with the district professional learning plans.
- Plan one-hour, weekly professional learning meetings on late start Wednesdays.
- Facilitate one-hour, weekly professional learning meetings on late start Wednesdays (as needed).
- Plan and facilitate paraprofessional meetings during Institute Days.
- Work with new paraprofessionals on one-to-one basis, as needed, to answer questions and address concerns.
- Monitor mentor time and effort logs according to mentor program guidelines.
- Perform other duties related to school-wide, professional development as requested by the Director of Special Education.
