Job Purpose
Purchasing Manager provides leadership and direction to achieve daily and long-term operational objectives for Honda Aero procurement operations. Manages all functions of Purchasing, including buyers and supply chain. Oversees overall parts on time delivery, parts cost and supplier negociations to meet business needs and delivery requirements. Daily management of associates to meet business plan goals.
Key Accountabilities
- Purchasing Management - PO's, schedules, decision making, direction setting, contracts
- ERP software - IFS work, orders, PO's, approvals
- Business planning/budget/reporting
- Training/recruiting/mentoring/development
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in business or engineering (MBA preferred)
Minimum Experience:
- 10 years of purchasing experience (mfg/Aerospace preferred)
Other Job-Specific Skills:
- Distressed supplier management, ability to manage on time delivery.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of associates engaged with Procurement of jet engine parts.
- Prepare and achieve department goals and objectives.
- Understand manufacturing requirements, approve schedules and establish work priorities to meet operational goals.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work within an international environment.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to develop strategic plans, coordinate projects, and communicate changes and progress.
- Proficiency with using computer based software, manufacturing execution and warehouse management systems.
- Team player with the ability to work effectively in all environments and all levels of the company (including the JV partner - GE).
- Assist with the recruitment and training of staff, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress.
- Basic understanding of compliance with federal and foreign regulations for the fAA.
- Prepare and manage the department annual budget relating to Parts manufacturing, Engineering and Procurement. Also, relating to facilities/equipment activities.
- Strong negotiation skills with suppliers.

Working Conditions
- Overtime - expected to meet goals and deadlines
- Travel – approx. 20% - to suppliers as needed
- Majority of desk work - with some on the floor support and follow-up and TEAMS conference calls
- Hazards - risks found in a typical office and shop setting.
