Job Summary: Due to growth, HonorBridge is recruiting for a Tissue Records Specialist. In this role you will be responsible for data entry and reports/information required for regulatory agencies. You will serve as liaison between tissue processors and HonorBridge staff for matters related to medical documentation. The ideal candidate is passionate about our mission to build connections that save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation, is task oriented and has 3-5 years of experience working in a medical environment. Candidates wi experience entering data into an Electronic Medical Records Systems are strongly preferred.
- This position is not a remote working opporutnity and requires that an individual work onsite at our Chapel Hill, NC facility
What you will do:
- Ensures accuracy of HonorBridge medical charts
- Adheres to HonorBridge quality assurance procedures and protocols.
- Gather and process accurate donor information from laboratories, medical examiners/coroners, and other needed sources.
- Makes all corrections allowed by policy, and uploads changes to LifeLogics/TrueNorth electronic record.
- Ensures accuracy of source documents and forms specific to actual cases
- Assists Staff with completion of charts
- Reviews case records and communicates variances to applicable Departmental Manager and Director of Tissue Services
- Responds to requests for clinical information from internal and external customers.
- Answers incoming phone calls specific to donor records and provides requested information in a timely manner
- Assist in the assurance of departmental regulatory compliance; monitoring and evaluating the department for efficiency and process improvement.
- Reviews and assists in resolving clinical staff error reports in LifeLogics/TrueNorth and/or other applicable databases
- Serves as back-up to Medical Records Department for vacations and absences, and as substitute back-up for Secretary/Receptionist as needed.
What we are looking for:
- An Associate Degree with a concentration in healthcare is stronlgy preferred
- 3 - 5 years’ experience working in a clinical environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Exceptional detail orientation
- Demonstrated knowledge of law and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of labs/procedures/donor process strongly preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with medical records systems
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
