Job Summary:
Responsible for ensuring that all grounds, buildings, and equipment are properly maintained in the most timely and cost-efficient manner. Responsible for ensuring that the controls of the systems are properly maintained in the most timely and cost-efficient manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day activities of a team of direct reports.
- Analyzes maintenance work orders and assigns maintenance personnel to complete them. Follows up with assigned personnel as needed until order is complete.
- Design and implement preventative maintenance systems.
- Support operational departments by maintaining equipment and resolve mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity, job capabilities, and equipment capabilities at the department’s request.
- Support operational departments by maintaining the controls of the systems and resolve HMI issues to increase productivity, job capabilities, and equipment capabilities at the department’s request.
- Direct and assist in the installation of new equipment.
- Plan and direct modification or repair of existing equipment.
- Plan and execute projects in conjunction with and assigned by the Plant Manager.
- Stay abreast of new technologies associated with the industry, through trade magazines, training classes and technical manuals.
- Responsible for controls engineering and project management when applicable.
- Hires, trains, supervise and provide skill development and coaching for all maintenance employees.
- Develops, implements, and updates policies and procedures for Maintenance Services
- Prepares departmental goals and objectives annually and is accountable for ongoing communication of results, quality measures, and areas for improvement
- Oversees supply purchasing for the maintenance departments insuring compliance to budget, and maintaining inventories for appropriate control, evaluating contracts regularly.
- Evaluates service agreements/contracts and submits recommendations to the Plant Manager
- Other duties as defined by Manager.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, and/or a combination of two years of college or vocational training in electrical and preferably additional training in HVAC, plumbing and associated trades. (i.e., building, construction, sanitation.)
- 5 years of Maintenance experience within Food/Beverage/Dairy industry required
- 5 years as a maintenance mechanic, specific to electrical, buildings and grounds preferred
- At least 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience required
- Experience within PLC’s and Ammonia Refrigeration preferred
- Experience working with outside vendors and contractors
