Position Summary
The Wellness Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the Hoosier Village Wellness Program as instructed by department director.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist department director with health promotion program implementation to enhance resident’s body, mind, intellectual health and well-being.
- Instruct group fitness classes.
- Perform personal training services.
- Conduct new resident exercise orientations.
- Assist with the creation and editing of all wellness marketing materials.
- Work regularly with in-house therapy to promote wellness referral services.
- Utilize assessment software for wellness and personal training participant database management.
- Assist with massage therapy scheduling.
- Assist with support group facilitation.
- Maintain wellness volunteer schedule.
- Assist with facilitating department communication in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to group e-mail, in-house television updates and updating bulletin boards with timely marketing material.
- Perform front desk receptionist duties in absence of Community Center staff and volunteers.
- Assist with pool record maintenance and upkeep.
Qualifications
At minimum, the right candidate will have a high school degree and be certified by a nationally recognized, credible health promotion organization with a minimum of 2 years related experience. An Associates or Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, health science, or related field and nationally recognized certifications are preferred as they relate to job duties. CPR and basic first aid are required. Water Safety preferred. Must be able to acquire sufficient knowledge and learn new skills through on-the-job training and instructions to satisfactorily meet job performance requirements at the end of the introductory period. Additionally, must demonstrate the following: ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; proper telephone skills; basic computer related skills; tying proficiency; familiarity with basic/standard computer systems and office equipment, and other skills as required.
Additional Requirements
Must possess the ability to problem solve, use judgment, discretion, and work independently. Individual must be able to work effectively with a broad and diverse range of colleagues, consultants, outside vendors, and other business contacts.
Must be able to juggle several tasks simultaneously, use good judgment in working with residents, and to cope successfully with staff diversity and a broad range of resident/family health and behavioral issues.
Physical requirements for the completion of job duties include:
- Ability to perform physical labor that requires bending, twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling, and lifting and carrying objects.
- Variation of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time, with ability to move adequately throughout the lobby areas, storage closets, mail rooms, office areas, and other areas of the facility.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers required to manipulate objects and use various types of office equipment, general cleaning equipment, pool cleaning equipment.
- Ability to see and hear within normal parameters.
- Physical stamina to lift, push, pull, carry, or move light to heavy objects as required to perform job duties (i.e., towel bundles, bulk office supplies – packaged in boxes, plastic containers, and other packaging; supply carts; exercise equipment (handheld weights, mats, balls, bands) and all other small to large objects and/or office equipment UPS/Fed-Ex packages for distribution). May be requested to lift or assist in lifting of patients, employees, or visitors during and/or as a result of emergency situations.
As a condition of employment, Hoosier Village requires that all new hires provide evidence of full or vaccination against COVID-19 within 3 days of employment. If a new hire wishes to submit a request to be exempt from the mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy due to a medical condition, sincerely held religious belief or other legal requirement, the associate will have three days after an offer of employment has been accepted to submit their exemption request for review and consideration by Hoosier Village.
