What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSP (Direct Support Professional) position at HopeStone LLC?
Assist in the development of the program; implementation of individual program goals, plan and implement community based activities focusing on participant’s choices; assist with personal care as needed and assigned; assist Program Director in implementation of the program; assist and/or substitute for fellow DSP as needed. DSP adheres to the policies and procedures set forth by the board of directors at HopeStone.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
§ High school diploma or equivalent.
§ Successful completion of a certified Direct Support Professionals by CDS.
§ Certification in CPR and First Aid.
§ Experience working with people with intellectual or other developmental disabilities.
§ Ability to relate positive image to participants, their families, support people and the community.
§ Ability to work cooperatively with peers and supervisor.
§ Good physical health.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS/FUNCTIONS
· Employee must be at least (18) years of age.
· Employee must be able to read and write proficiently.
· Employee must have and maintain a Maine’s driver’s license, proof of good driving records as well as held the driver’s license consistently for three years.
· Provide proof of auto insurance as required and retain the ability to be insured with a 100/300 deductible.
· Employee must be able to successfully complete all required training in the required time allotted.
· Employee must be physically capable of transferring, assisting with transfers and lifting persons who require physical assistance.
· Employee must be able to reach and bend as they assist participants with physical activities.
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Ability to pass mandatory drug screen and physical
· Pass a criminal history and personal background checks
· Requires basic language, written and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation
· Ability and willingness to assist individual in activities of daily living including bathing, toileting and other self-help skills
· Ability and willingness to support individuals with challenging behavior
· CPR/ 1ST Aid certified.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide input and assist Program Director in planning and evaluating the program and participant’s goals.
- Assist all staff and substitute for DSP as needed in special situations.
- Assist in the implementation of individual planned program goals for each participant.
- Maintain and document records of participant accidents/incidents as required.
- Notify immediate supervisor of concerns/issues regarding participants, maintenance and repairs in the facility or company vehicles.
- Participate in scheduled staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
- Assist all participants in being actively involved in the daily activities to achieve greater independence using person-centered planning and self-determination.
- Maintain and submit all required records and reports.
- Accompany and transport participants, volunteers and staff on scheduled community outings.
- Supervise lunch period. Oversee arrivals and departures of participants.
- Perform any other duties related to the field of service as may be assigned by the Director, Administrator, and/or Supervisor.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.50 per hour
