What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern-Accounting position at Horizon Bank?
Right from the start, you will have exposure to the fundamentals of banking, positions and departments to establish a core understanding of banking. You will engage in project based work and networking opportunities while receiving guidance from your leader. You will develop professional and interpersonal skills that will be invaluable throughout your career.
The Accounting intern will provide support to the Finance Department as they ensure the bank remains compliant with applicable laws and regulations. This internship is in-person at our Michigan City Corporate location and runs from July through November. Approximate hours are 20-25 in the summer and 10-15 in the fall.
Duties- Reconcile and balance financial accounts.
- Scan and index documents into the imaging system.
- Assist with research in response to reconciliation questions.
- Perform all work in compliance with established regulations, policies, and instructions
- Complete required training associated with job function.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be a junior or senior at the start of the internship.
- Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

Represent the Bank to both internal and external customers in a courteous, professional manner in face-to-face, written and telephone communications. Accountable for adherence to compliance standards including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), quality of documentation, timeliness and the ability to exercise prudent judgment for solutions from unexpected situations that arise. Actively protect confidentiality of customer and account information. Demonstrate Horizon Bank's commitment to the communities we serve through involvement in local organizations and events.
