What are the responsibilities and job description for the Med/Surg Clerk position at Horn Memorial Hospital?
Full Time Med Surg Clerk opening, hours are 6am-2:30pm including every other weekend and holiday rotation. 40 hours/week. Must be positive, energetic and organized.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acts as a receptionist; receives and directs visitors who present at the Nurse’s station.
- Answers telephone and directs phone calls to proper person and relays messages timely.
- Updates Patient Registry/Nursing Worksheet
- Assembles/disassembles patient chart for new admissions/dismissals and changes in level of care
- Responsible for accuracy and completeness of patients’ paper record.
- Completes registration of ER, outpatient and inpatient admissions to hospital on evenings and weekends
- Notifies other departments of pertinent physician orders/consults via computer and phone in a timely manner
- Communicates need for ground or air ambulance to appropriate communication center/hospital
Qualifications:
- Education: A high school graduate. Medical assistance background is preferred.
Experience:
- Given on the job training. Clerical experience and knowledge of medical terminology are desirable. Computer skills are required with Microsoft Excel experience preferred.
Applicant must pass background check, drug screen and health assessment including applicable vaccinations prior to hire. Position open until filled.
