What are the responsibilities and job description for the Labor and Delivery Nurse position at Hosital?
Must have a Minimum of two years of recent labor and delivery experience.
This is a contract part time, or full time position; 7am to 7pm, you choose the days you're available to work at least 2-3 days a week. We will work around your schedule!
A labor and delivery nurse works with mothers during the final stages of pregnancy helping with birthing, monitoring the mother's vital signs, and becoming astute in signs and symptoms of possible complications. They are involved in patient education and addressing the psychosocial needs of mothers after delivery.
To be a successful labor and delivery nurse, you should be meticulous with strong attention to detail. You should be caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable on all aspects of pregnancy, labor, and birth, as well as post-pregnancy care, complications, and treatments.
Some responsibilities:
- Provide care and support for women before, during and after delivery of the baby
- Monitor vital signs of the mother and baby during birth
- Monitor patients for potential high-risk problems
- Educate and support mothers and their families after giving birth
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Current New York State RN license
