Job Overview
Day Shift: 6am-6pm
The Training Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing training programs and overseeing the on-boarding and continued development of hourly operations team members. Prepares materials, schedule and oversees training for on operations policies and procedures, GMPs, along with safety practices and other required quality system procedures.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the plant’s leadership team to identify desired skill sets, knowledge, and talent needed to meet production goals and be a key resource to new and current employees as they complete their training requirements.
- Partner with the plant’s leadership team to coordinate, administer and evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs such as (but not limited to) food safety training, safety awareness orientation, and new employee orientation.
- Coordinate and deliver key training programs in the facility. Administer various components of training programs including tracking training progress, verifying assessments and certification progress of new and current employees.
- In partnership with Operation Leaders, assess skills gaps to meet production needs and works to get employees the proper training needed in a timely manner.
- Provide support to leaders and team members on all training needs. Provide regular reports on training progress status. Ensure training materials are up to date; improve training programs to meet the needs of the organization.
- Participate in New Employee Orientation facilitation by providing an in-depth plant tour and introduction to work location and trainer.
- Partner with plant leadership to ensure a positive on-boarding experience for all Operations team members.
- Create standard work instructions to include training and facilitation of the 3-step training method.
- Train and implement various continuous improvement methodologies, including but not limited to, 5S, process flow, waste elimination and standardization.
- Facilitate “Train the Trainer” sessions and evaluates guest trainer performance by frequently checking in on new hires and trainers.
- Partner with Corporate Lean Specialist to facilitate training programs for Problem Solving, Standardized Work and other lean manufacturing programs.
- Responsible for supporting other team leaders, managers, and HR in the 90-day performance evaluation processes.
- Accurately maintain training records systems (including Alchemy for the plant site).
- Compile manufacturing training metrics and scorecard.
- Support other operations management and team leaders in supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees (specifically during 90-day review / on-boarding period) or a work unit, including providing input on hiring/disciplinary actions and work objectives/effectiveness, and realigning work as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years previous supervisory experience required, preferably in a food manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry is preferred.
- Working knowledge of FDA and GMP environment required
- Ability to travel 10% of the time and work different shifts as necessary is required
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Working knowledge and use of Trade Promotion Management (TPM) systems either through broker experience

Working Conditions:
- Work environment involves daily exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, darkness, and/or noise. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity.
- Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical equipment, forklifts, chemical hazards, and electrical hazards.
- Position requires the ability to stand; walking around office and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting on a daily basis. Also requires the ability to see; hear; and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.
- Ability to work any shift and overtime to meet business needs.
