Job Overview:
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the maintenance of all plant equipment and facilities per corporate standards, and to provide quality and economy. Supervise the engineering department in their everyday responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Train, oversee and critique Engineering staff
Supervise entire Engineering operation
Direct resources of plant and equipment toward the most efficient maintenance of equipment.
Coordinate with Sanitation to ensure plants and equipment meet regulatory requirements for cleanliness and product safety
Assist in bakery process roll-out with R&D on the launching of new products
Establish best practices to achieve company standards on controllable costs
Ensure all plant preventative maintenance programs comply with accepted and approved corporate regulations.
Be responsible for the purchasing of engineering supplies and materials and the maintenance of adequate supplies and materials and inventories.
Assist in regulatory and corporate sanitation and safety inspections. Assist in the development of programs, which will bring into compliance all identified deficiencies.
Make repairs to equipment and facilities as necessary or as assigned.
Maintain accurate and complete records of all procedures and projects.
Promote safety through work procedures, and employee safety programs
Ensure that all union contractual obligations are fulfilled.
Coordinate and implement Company policies and procedures in all areas.
Perform other duties related to the maintenance of plant properly as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school degree with at least five years' bakery engineering management experience.
A college degree preferred, but not required.
More than three years' experience as an Assistant Manager or Supervisor is preferred
Thorough understanding of commercial high-speed bakeries and production equipment along with the affiliated departments such as Production, Sanitation, Shipping, Accounting, Purchasing, and Shipping
Operational Efficiency - Plans and coordinates use of manpower, material, and equipment to ensure efficient maintenance of bakery and facility equipment
Engineering - Understands the unique equipment in a bakery production plant, along with operation of that equipment relative to the baking process. Ability to trouble shoot equipment to ensure optimum product quality is achieved
Accounting Policy and Key Accounting Practices - Understands cost accounting along with budgets and profit and loss responsibility.
Team Dynamics - Empowerment, Collaboration, Motivation, and Enthusiasm - effectively leads, coaches, trains, and motivates people to follow established standards
Setting and Achieving Goals - Successfully coaches, trains, and follows up with people to ensure production goals are met. Flexible in approach to supporting the needs of Sales and Marketing.
Business Relationships - Skilled at building partnerships within the organization and coordinating with support departments
Personal Computer Skills - Literate with MS Excel and Word
