What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. MACHINIST position at Howmet?
This will be a 1st shift position, Monday-Friday. 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Job Summary:
Set-up, operate and maintain at least three families of process equipment independently meeting both safety and production requirements. Maintain all quality and production records and assist with training as required.
Essential Functions:
* Assist supervisor in overseeing shift as needed
* Perform machine set-up and wheel changes in assigned workstation within standard set-up times
* Set up and operate robot
* Assist engineering in machine control and process parameter development
* Assist engineering with set-up reduction improvements and developing written procedures
* Maintain all quality and production records including tooling calibration, daily walk around, etc
* Maintain productivity, utilization, schedule and quality records and comply with all standards
* Perform inspection of non-certified operators
* Assist engineers with root cause analysis and problem solving when issues arise
* Make equipment and product recommendations notifying appropriate personnel
* Assist with training as required
* Perform TPM duties
Job Responsibilities:
* Assist in productivity and throughput (flow) in all assigned cells
* Assist supervisor and Production Control to manage daily output requirements
* Maintain 5S and other area housekeeping standards
* Execute clean-up shift procedures
* Maintain visual control boards and hour X hour charts
* Participate and actively promote continuous improvement activities
* Follow policies and procedures as outlined in Employee Handbook
* Actively participate, promote and comply with all Quality and EH&S programs and policies
* Achieve and maintain certified status
* Maintain acceptable attendance
* Perform all other job duties as assigned
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Use of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers including decimal and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, writing diagrams, computer scanning devices, use of adjustable measuring instruments; checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data; interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge.

* Ability to interpret instructions, prescribed routines, methods and practices
* Ability to manage and direct other employees

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is required. Other personal protective equipment required in production areas are safety glasses with side shields, metatarsal safety shoes and gloves.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- 3 years of manufacturing experience.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
