The Forest Program Manager is a specialized and experienced professional who possesses a deep and comprehensive understanding of various technologies, theories, and techniques related to the design and development of complex products, platforms, systems, software, and technology across multiple engineering disciplines, platforms, and organizations within forest conservation. The Forest Program Manager is a recognized authority and subject matter expert in their field, and they are expected to contribute to the development of innovative principles and ideas that can help drive HP's Forest First long-term goals and objectives.

This role requires the Forest Program Manager to operate in complex and challenging disciplines, where they must exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and criteria for achieving objectives. They are responsible for developing organization-wide architectures and methodologies for design and development and for identifying and evaluating new technologies, innovations, and development partner relationships for alignment with HP's Forest First roadmap and to deliver business value.

In addition, you will play a key role in the development of HP's emergent nature-based solutions strategy that has the goal of participating in projects that can help stabilize global temperatures and weather patterns by restoring habitats, managing resources like water, and promoting other nature-based solutions. These efforts hold extraordinary promise in the quest to fight the effects of climate change, and your role as a Forest Program Manager will be crucial in HP's commitment to reducing its impact on forests and promoting a forest positive strategy.

The Forest Program Manager reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards, integrating suggestions, updates, and innovations into the overall architecture. They leverage their recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of business leadership, development partners, and industry standards groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of leadership, development partners, and industry standards groups.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including NGOs, government agencies, and other organizations, to advance forest restoration and conservation efforts and build partnerships that support these initiatives.
  • Integrates nature-based solutions, such as forest restoration and habitat management, into product design and development processes to help reduce the company's impact on the environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of forest restoration and conservation initiatives and adjust strategies and tactics as needed.
  • Conduct research and analysis related to forest management practices, climate change mitigation, and other relevant topics to inform the organization's forest-related initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and innovations related to forest restoration and conservation and evaluate their potential applications to the organization's initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on the organization's forest-related initiatives to executive leadership, external stakeholders, and other relevant parties.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of engineering design innovation and excellence.
  • Represent the organization at conferences, industry events, and other forums related to forest restoration and conservation.
  • Develop and manage budgets and resource allocations for forest-related initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or other relevant field.
  • 10 years of experience in forest management, conservation, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of forest ecology, conservation biology, and ecosystem services.
  • Knowledge of forest restoration and conservation practices, including relevant laws and regulations.
  • Experience in project management, including managing budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including GIS, remote sensing, and statistical analysis software.

Per theCalifornia and Washingtonstatute,the estimated range of compensation for this jobin that location, at the time of this posting, is $150,000 USD-$175,000 USD. This position may be eligible for incentive pay, for openings where this is applicable.
