SUMMARY
The Corporate and Legal Affairs Associate is responsible for assisting Corporate Counsel in the regular execution of risk and legal affairs business of the organization. This includes maintenance of business registration and licensure, corporate documentation, business insurance, contract review assistance and the handling of legal filings, etc. The Associate will provide support services as needed and attend meetings as a representative of the department as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide internal support in the areas of contracts, legal actions, legal research, mergers and acquisitions, office leases, corporate governance, corporate insurance, and other related areas.
- Research requirements and prepare applications for new State and foreign licensures and business registrations within established timeframes. Obtain required financial and corporate data to complete filings.
- Renew State licenses and business registrations. Coordinate documentation and notification of each legal issue with Corporate Counsel.
- Work with outside agencies to assist Corporate Counsel in processing and managing all corporate insurance documentation. Attend annual insurance renewal meetings, as required.
- Maintain all paper and electronic filing of corporate documents per established procedures.
- Assist in review of non-standard contracts for risk management issues. Obtain insurance company review of contract language and provide comments to Corporate Counsel for handling.
- Assist in claims management functions and administrative efforts, including document collection and calendaring for the legal department
- Conduct business behavior in conjunction with the HR Green Culture and Business Ethics Policy and champion this behavior to others in the firm
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma and 5 years of prior work related experience is required.
- Paralegal experience preferred
- Paralegal coursework, Associates or Bachelor’s degree is preferred in a related field.
- Must possess good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe / Bluebeam, and Outlook. Experience with legal matter management software preferred.
- Must have good overall computer literacy in order to effectively assist in the completion of internal and external documents for various hardcopy and/or internet filings.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as legal complaints/summons, procedure manuals, etc.
- Ability to write routine correspondence and reports.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form.
- Ability to interpret and solve problems with limited daily direction.
Compensation
$56,000 - $89,000
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and California’s SB 1162. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
