POSITION SUMMARY:
Operates heavy equipment; Semi/Lowboy, snow plow/spreader, water truck, roller, grader,
loader, dozer, dump truck. Responsible for maintain proper road structure plus drainage on
gravel roads. Also performs a variety of road maintenance and manual labor assignments, such
as, but not limited to: operating jackhammer, drilling holes in rocks, shoveling of cold mix
asphalt cake, raking chips, chip sealing, asphalt/cement patching, oiling, sweeping, trimming
trees, weeding, mowing, removing debris, installing cattle guards, placing of barricades and
cones, and flagging of traffic. Utilizes various hand and power tools and equipment such as:
jackhammer, compressors, drills, chain saw, mower, shovel, rake, and weed eater.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates light to heavy equipment utilized in the maintenance and repair of roads and to haul
materials and equipment. (front end loaders; rollers; sweepers; water truck; other related
medium equipment, and hand tools; - Adheres to safety procedures in work areas and in performance of work assignments
- Cleans, maintains and services required equipment and tools
- Data entry utilizing iWorQs regularly.
- Performs all other duties as assigned

communicate in a positive and professional way with co-workers
- Possess drive and determination for personal and professional growth
- Abide by all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as all company safety procedures
- Understand and obey directives and instructions issued by their supervisor or manager or any
. other higher up - Responds to emergency situations in off hours as required within 30 minutes of emergency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma or be able to obtain one within 12 to
18 months after hire date. - 2-3 years of experience working with heavy equipment.
- Any combination of training, education or experience which demonstrates the ability to
perform the duties of the position including roads maintenance work.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards.
- Computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel a plus.
- Be able to back a pickup truck with a trailer attached.
- Ability to work independently in isolated areas.
- Ability to recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action
- Critical Thinking - using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions,
conclusions or approaches to problems. - Achievement/Effort -job requires maintaining personal goals that exercise
professionalism.
- Must be able to keep accurate records of equipment use and hours.
Other:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must have a valid class A CDL driver license or be able to obtain class A CDL permit
within 3 months and the class A CDL license within 6 months of employment. - Must be dependable and responsible. Job requires a detail oriented person and
thoroughness in completing work tasks in a timely manner.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, some nights, weekends and holidays.
- May be required to pass a physical examination administered by a physician.
- NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to pass mandatory drug screen prior to offer of employment.
- Submit to and pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, finger printing clearance
and random drug test thereafter.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Required to exert physical effort in handing and lifting 50 lbs. to 100 lbs. daily
- Will be exposed to potential occupational risks such as burns, cuts and exposure to hazardous
- Exposure to physical environment which includes dust, noise, odors, extreme weather or other
similar elements. - Noise from mechanical tools and equipment.
- Unusual Working Conditions: Works outside exposed to weather (e.g., including rain,
lightening, floods, humidity & hot temperatures in summer time loud noise from equipment &
traffic, exposed to insects such as bees, mosquitoes, flies & spiders; exposed to rodents to
include mice & rats; exposed to stray dogs, dirt, dust, engine exhaust, fumes, poison ivy/sumac
