Accounts Payable Clerk

Big Blue Marble Academy is hiring for an Accounts Payable Clerk in Auburn, AL. 
 
The Accounts Payable Clerk will support all financial activities for the business and will play a
critical role in all financial operations.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Assist in ad hoc projects and special projects, as needed
• Assist in managing accounting functions on a day-to-day basis including invoicing, expense reimbursement, and capital project tracking
• Assist in analyzing expenses against budget to properly track costs per center
• Share responsibility for account reconciliation during month-end close
  • Credit Card Reconciliation
  • A/P Reconciliation
• Practice effective monitoring to ensure payments are made to vendors in a timely manner
• Assist in verifying and investigating discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
• Assist with vendor communication and maintaining vendor relationships
• Assist with maintain internal communication and providing updates on requests as needed
• Assist with gathering, analyzing, and reporting data for multiple locations
• Assist in gathering data related to credit card activity against budget for T&E
• Assist in maintaining Accounts Payable inbox daily to ensure timely processing of invoices

Job Requirements:

• Three or more years of relevant accounting experience preferred
• Understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting skills is required
• Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information
• Bachelor’s degree in related field required, relevant experience may be substituted
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency with intermediate or higher Excel skills or willingness to learn
• Knowledge of Sage 100/Beanworks/Bill.com highly preferred but not required
• Understanding of compliance issues around accounts payable processes (W-9, 1099 issuance, sales tax, etc.) preferred
• Strong data entry skills for expense reporting
• Ability to work independently and take initiative, will ask questions while presenting solutions
• Time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
• Excellent communication with warm attitude is critical
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a high volume, fast-paced environment
