Hui Mauli Ola is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional Hawaiian healing practices. We are committed to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of these ancient arts, ensuring they continue to thrive and benefit future generations.

Program Overview:

Nā Lāʻau o Kukuihaʻa, a collaborative initiative between Hui Mauli Ola and Ka Pā O Lonopūhā, aims to establish a Hawaiian Healing Academy. This project is designed to increase the number of practitioners skilled in traditional Hawaiian healing practices, ensuring Native Hawaiians have local access to culturally relevant health services. Addressing the Social Development needs of Native communities, the program focuses on mental health, community health, nutrition, fitness, and family strengthening. Through a combination of training, practicum, coaching, and mentoring, the project will enhance the capabilities of its participants across six Hawaiian islands, utilizing both online and in-person instructional methods.

Summary/Objective:

The Program Manager for the Nā Lāʻau o Kukuihaʻa project will oversee the implementation and monitoring of this innovative Hawaiian Healing Academy. The role involves managing a comprehensive educational program that spans multiple islands, coordinating online and in-person training sessions, and ensuring the project meets its objectives of expanding the community of Hawaiian healing practitioners. The Project Manager will work closely with the Project Director, lead instructor, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of training and support to both new and experienced practitioners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all data collection and reporting systems in alignment with the Outcome Tracking Strategy (OTS).
  • Track and report on project activities, staff, contractors, and participant involvement.
  • Maintain the security, integrity, and confidentiality of sensitive data provided to the organization.
  • Develop and manage project files, forms, operating procedures, and administrative systems, including tracking non-federal share (NFS) matches.
  • Collaborate with the Project Director (PD) to prepare, review, and finalize essential reports, including the Objective Progress Report (OPR) and SF 425 forms.
  • Work with the PD and evaluator to develop, distribute, and collect project data, and research key data sources for project enhancement.
  • Reconcile monthly expenses, manage budget tracking with the PD, and aggregate expenses for payment management systems.
  • Assist in annual project budget development and monitor adherence to budgetary limitations.
  • Manage payment requests, track contractual reimbursements, and issue purchase orders.
  • Implement project directives under the PD's guidance to ensure successful execution and adherence to goals.
  • Resolve staff misunderstandings or disputes as per the Contingency Plan and attend required training programs.
  • Uphold best management practices for efficient project operation and ensure compliance with relevant laws and organizational policies.
  • Manage day-to-day managerial and operational challenges and develop potential partnerships relevant to the project.
  • Communicate with existing and potential partners to strengthen project outreach and manage special organizational projects like grant reviews.
  • Provide general office support, including mail management, record keeping, filing, and coordinate transportation for organizational needs.
  • Participate in cultural research and development activities in line with traditional Hawaiian healing practices.
  • Engage in professional development activities as directed by the PD, maintain communication through weekly staff meetings, and use organizational communication tools effectively.
  • Greet and assist visitors with professionalism and enthusiasm.

Competencies:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Canva.

- Experience in project management and data system management.

- Multi-tasking, organizational, and communication skills.

- Knowledge of Native Hawaiian cultural practices.

- Fluent in English, and knowledge in English language.

- Skilled in decision-making

- Experience purchasing and inventory management.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

- Full-time

Required Education and Experience or Equivalency:

- Preferred Bachelor’s degree with two years of administrative experience, or an Associate degree in Business Administration with four years of administrative experience, or equivalent.

Supervisory Responsibility:

- For Workshop Cultural Practitioners, Curriculum Advisors, and Evaluator.

- For management of data collection and distribution by Evaluators.

- For the maintenance of a safe and conducive learning environment for participants, contractors, and partners.

- To facilitate collaboration between curriculum advisors and Cultural Practitioner Instructor.

- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Essential Physical Requirements:

- Capable of performing light physical work and lifting up to 35 pounds.

- Good health

Physical Demands and Travel Requirements:

- Involvement in class setup and breakdown, and regular travel to but not limited to Oʻahu, Maui, and Hawaiʻi for classes, meetings, and events.

- Responsible for purchasing supplies and equipments for classes and events.

Licenses or Certifications Required:

- Valid driver’s license, privately-owned vehicle with valid insurance. First Aid and CPR/AED certification preferred.
