Job Title: Development & Events Coordinator

Job Status: 40 hours/week; Non-Exempt

Reports To: Director of Development


The Humane Society of Chittenden County is looking for an experienced Development & Events Coordinator to join our team!

Position Summary:

The Development & Events Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Director of Development (DD) and HSCC’s annual multi-million-dollar fundraising goals, event management, and donor procurement efforts.

Essential Functions:

  • Record donations on an ongoing basis in donor database and generate timely acknowledgment letters. Design and run reports and oversee database maintenance.
  • Prepare accurate research on prospects and materials for cultivation and solicitation visits to grow and strengthen our donor base.
  • Ensure data integrity through accurate data entry and reconciliation with Finance Department
  • Assist in grant research, tracking and reporting to increase our grant funding.
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of appeals and stewardship materials including mass emails, social media, websites, and mass mailing.
  • Assist with the writing and editing of appeals, acknowledgements, donor news, reports, and proposals.
  • Collaborate with various departments, volunteers, and sponsors in planning and executing special events.
  • Communicate with donors, sponsors, and community partners in person, on the phone, and by email.
  • Other responsibilities as directed.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Compassion for animals and human beings, and commitment to the mission, values, and goals of HSCC.
  • Interest in fundraising for mission driven organizations and enjoy event management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of various MS Office programs, including Excel and Outlook, and various databases. Experience with Bloomerang CRM and MailChimp a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate and positively interact with colleagues, donors, volunteers, community members consistent with HSCC’s culture.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and detail oriented with the capacity to multitask and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related program; or equivalent experience
  • Experience with CRM programs and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising
