Position Title: Special Educator
Reports to: Building Principal and/or Department Head
Position Responsibilities:
- Teach students specific skills and strategies to help them access curriculum
- Conduct IEP meetings and complete all related paperwork in a timely fashion
- Monitor student progress; revise IEP according to progress
- Co-teach in regular education content area, or teach substantially separate subject
- Prepare students for transition to post-high school life
- Communicate with school personnel outside of the department
- Communicate effectively with parents and other stakeholders
Job Qualifications:
Attendance at departmental and school-wide meetings
- Requisite licensure as defined by the DESE and SEI Endorsement
- Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A strong commitment to helping a wide variety of culturally diverse students achieve their full potential
- Ability to support the development of culturally responsive programs and activities that promote student engagement, family engagement, community involvement and a positive school climate
