Nestlé Health Science are looking for a SHE Specialist to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Based in one of our manufacturing facilities in Pittsburgh, PA you will report into the Regional SHE Manager. The role is responsible for driving and coordinating safety, health, and environmental programs. The position interacts with employees to ensure a culture of caring and where each employee is accountable and responsible for safety, health and environmental conditions, and behaviours. Additionally, the role is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies, routinely interacting with employees on the site floor whilst supporting sophisticated assignments involving performance of daily audits/inspections and assisting the site in achieving ISO 140001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications.

What will you do?
As a SHE Specialist your main responsibilities will consist of the following:
- Support and drive site safety, health and environmental initiatives, strategies, programs, and procedures.
- Provides hands on safety support, leadership, and supervision across the site.
- Champions and develops a culture where safety, health and environment are ingrained as a core value with all employees who are actively engaged in performing their work in a safe manner whilst interacting with their co-workers to prevent at-risk behaviors.
- Actively participates on the facility SHE team and other assigned teams.
- Effectively coaches and develops operations line supervision to be effective SH&E coaches in their respective positions.
- Analyze SHE conditions and behaviors and recommends changes to continuously improve Site SHE performance to best in class in levels.
- Primarily responsible for implementing systems, procedures, and work practices to ensure “audit ready” state of compliance.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures (SOP's) to ensure site compliance with all company and regulatory policies, including federal, state, and local legislation and regulations pertaining to SHE.
- Drives implementation of SH&E best in class programs, systems, and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear procedures on SH&E measures and precautions.
- Reviews, analyzes, critiques and/or approves engineering design development reports, plans and specifications for compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
- Manage and support worker’s compensation claims.
- Thoroughly investigate and support all incidents in coordination with SHE & site leadership.
- Coordinate and facilitate all environmental training for site, in addition to administering training programs for safety accident prevention and protection.
- Provides SHE functional and technical expertise, guidance and mentorship as needed in all areas and initiatives of the function.
Who are we looking for?
- Educated to a degree level within an environmental or safety related filed is desired.
- Demonstrable experience within a similar role is essential with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience.
- Experienced with OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations and local equivalents and their application to site operations.
- Professional certifications in SH&E related fields are considered advantageous and may include CIH, NEBOSH Certificate, ASP, AEM.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and digital literacy skills inclusive of the use of all Microsoft packages
- Strong stakeholder management with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization and cross functionally and communicate effectively.
- Adept at making well informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations.
- Ability to train and present at a good standard.
- Excellent attention to detail whilst able to identify improvement opportunities and lead continuous improvement efforts.
- Ability to work with multiple discipline projects both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong technical writing skills
- Comfortable working at pace, multitasking and prioritizing accordingly.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- A creative, proactive thinker who is adept at problem solving and identify solutions.
