Hyde Park Schools is a leading college-prep Christ-centered school in Austin, TX and is seeking the next transformational Head Coach to join Team Hyde Park. This is an amazing opportunity to engage in a very exciting time for Hyde Park athletics, specifically the Men's High School Basketball program. With the incredible growth and expansion of a new gym and facilities expected to open Fall of 2025, this is a wonderful opportunity for the next Head Coach to build an excellent basketball program. Hyde Park competes at the 5A TAPPS level and desires the highest levels of competition.
We are in search of a Christ-centered individual who has a passion for basketball and a love for student-athletes and their futures. The next head coach will be a key factor in developing a culture that allows for growth both on and off the court!
Salary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
Qualifications
- Use a variety of instructional techniques to promote the development of student athletes.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to improve skills development , teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Work with other staff members to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives ensuring overall educational development of student athletes.
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities throughout the duration of the season.
- Take necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
- Work with the Athletic Director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.
- Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program and make changes based on findings and the ongoing needs of the program.
- Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports on our-of-town trips.
- Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations regarding academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
- Enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and events held off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, teachers, Athletic Director and Administration.
