Pay Range: CAD $150k-$190k
Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Key Account Manager to join the West Region. The Key Account Manager (KAM) works within a regional team of AE’s, KAMs, and Regional Sales Managers in order to implement the Regional Strategy and grow the Company’s market share. Key objectives of this position are extraordinary customer service, sound customer relationships, managing and developing relationships with key accounts, managing and developing company and account profitability and maintaining our position as the market leader. This position reports directly to the Commercial Manager of the Portland, OR Plant. Concentration will be on selling the value –added services available for the aluminum extrusions we produce, such as finishing and fabrication (thermal improvement). Primary account development responsibility may involve focusing on specific West plant locations, however, selling the fabrication and finishing capabilities of the entire network will be strongly encouraged.
Required Education/Experience:
- 10 years’ experience in sales/marketing, including account management and strategy development.
- Hands on market experience; aluminum extrusion industry experience is required.
- Experience in developing commercial strategy and driving market share improvement.
- Familiarity with Building and Construction market space and accounts in the West Region
- Related marketing or business degree or equivalent in education or experience. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Sound knowledge, experience and skills in pricing, negotiation and contracts are required.
- Detailed sales expertise in a relationship-based environment is required.
- Hands on direct extrusion sales experience and soft-alloy aluminum extrusion industry are required.
- Must be able to interface effectively with sales teammates to coordinate and quarterback sales initiatives within the West Region.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Proven track record of success in key account management, sales, or business development, preferably in the aluminum extrusion industry
- Strong technical understanding of aluminum extrusion processes, products, and applications.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop activities related to the assigned customer base and new prospects to ensure that the Region and overall, Hydro commercial strategy is implemented effectively and consistently.
- Manage the assigned accounts as required including hands-on sales development, customer value management, closing sales, and on-going service of accounts.
- Establish, maintain and work a new business pipeline to identify and develop business opportunities within existing and new customers for the West Region, with primary focus on strategic key accounts
- Develop, evaluate and manage proposed contracts and account pricing activities to meet business objectives and financial targets – oversee and manage the associated activities related to achieving the objectives & targets within the assigned customer base.
- Develop, maintain and utilize superior market knowledge that supports sound approaches and recommendations.
- Assist the Regional Sales Manager and Sales Director in strategic planning and decision-making at the region leadership level to develop and implement a commercial strategy that aligns with the organization’s vision and long-term business objectives.
- Perform forecasting, analyses, reports, inquiries and general intelligence efforts as required to develop, maintain and utilize superior customer / market knowledge to enable implementation of sound sales approaches and actions.
- Work effectively with customer service and plant operations and planning personnel to resolve customer account issues and challenges.
- Prepare and maintain updates, highlights, special management reports and etc. as required.
- Develop customer relationships to enhance customer retention and market share growth.
- Conduct sales activities in a manner consistent with the Company’s overall sales strategy and Company values, and compliant with established Company policies and procedures.
- Establish, maintain and work a new business pipeline to identify and develop business opportunities within existing and new customers.
- Perform forecasting, analyses, reports, inquiries and general intelligence efforts as required to develop, maintain and utilize superior customer / market knowledge to enable implementation of sound sales approaches and actions.
- Coordinate with plant planning and customer’s planning to ensure appropriate reserve levels for day to day business and project planning
- Work effectively with customer service and plant operations and planning personnel to resolve customer account issues and challenges.
- Prepare and maintain updates, highlights, special management reports and etc. as required.
- In addition to focus areas, the Account Executive positions will sell for entire West region, and extensive overnight travel is required.
