Bakery Manager

Description

We are looking for a Bakery Manager to join our family-owned Italian grocery and supervise the Bakery Department and their crafting of delicious and irresistible baked goods and treats. If you’re interested, we would love to hear from you!

This position has advancement opportunity! $25 per hour / $37.50 per hour for hours over 40 in a week. 55-hour work weeks.

The Bakery Manager contributes to the company’s success by managing the operations of the Bakery Department and ensuring a neat and visually appealing bakery with a wide variety of freshly baked items. Attributes that contribute to success in this role include strong leadership skills, being a problem solver, and exceling in a fast-paced work environment.

The Bakery Manager’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Supervising the mixing and preparing of baked goods, including the decorating of cakes, cookies, pies, and other desserts, and the procuring of ingredients for baked goods.
• Managing staff members and ensuring they carry out their duties efficiently.
• Hiring and training new staff members on company policies and guidelines.
• Monitoring inventory, placing orders as necessary. Handling and resolving any inventory or order discrepancies.
• Overseeing the weighing, preparing, packaging, and labeling of goods in a precise and sanitary manner consistent with department guidelines.
• Providing friendly and courteous customer service and responding to queries and complaints from both staff and customers.
• Assisting customers with special orders, with extra attention given to specific requests.
• Overseeing the preparation of party platters, trays, and pre-packaged goods.
• Setting up displays and ensuring prices and promotions are easily visible.
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the department and that work areas are tidy and sanitized.

The Bakery Manager’s work hours vary and will consist of day and evening shifts.

The ideal candidate for the Bakery Manager position:

• Has previous management and bakery experience.
• Possesses exceptional leadership, management, and communications skills.
• Can work expeditiously and efficiently; and multi-task as needed.
• Possesses strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Can handle escalated complaints / issues with diplomacy and tact.
• Can interact cordially with customers, including educating customers and offering suggestions.
