We are looking for a Produce Manager to join our family-owned Italian grocery and oversee the Produce Department’s preparation and presentation of delicious and delectable fruits, vegetables, and produce. If you’re interested, we would love to hear from you!

The Produce Manager contributes to the company’s operation and success by providing exceptional overall supervision of the produce department, training the produce staff, and managing inventory of produce goods. Attributes that contribute to success in this role include strong leadership skills and problem-solving skills and being well-organized.
The Produce Manager’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Creating work schedules and leading staff to meet company sales goals.
- Overseeing the preparing, packaging, and labeling of goods in a precise and sanitary manner consistent with department guidelines.
- Assisting in hiring and training new staff members on company policies and guidelines.
- Negotiating prices with suppliers and ensuring they deliver quality stock in a timely manner.
- Maintaining accurate records of sales, purchases, and any transfers daily between departments.
- Assisting in developing marketing events and other promotional activities to maximize sales and profits.
- Providing high quality customer service by engaging customers and responding to questions.
- Monitoring the freshness of fruits and vegetables by ensuring the proper temperature and humidity are maintained.
- Cleaning produce and discarding expired items (or produce that is no longer fresh or in satisfactory condition) in accordance to standard operating procedures.
The Produce Manager’s work hours vary and will consist of day and evening shifts.
The ideal candidate for the Produce Manager position:
- Has previous experience in a retail grocery store, produce, or other related experience.
- Possesses exceptional leadership, management, and communications skills.
- Can operate a label printing scale and possesses good math skills.
- Possesses strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Can lift up to 50lbs.
