Senior PHP Developer

The Senior PHP Developer must be able to meet the key criteria below:

• Location: Must be able to be onsite in the Suitland, MD area
• Years’ Experience: 10 years
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or IT related field
• Security Clearance: IBR is a federal contractor. Applicants must be able to meet the requirements to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance as manadatory by the program. NOTE: United States Citizenship is part of the eligibility criteria to be able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance. 
• Work Authorization: Must show that applicant is legally permitted to work in the United States

• Key Skills:
  • 10 years software development experience including extensive development experience using PHP, Laravel framework, Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML5, Java, and CSS
  • Expertise in relational databases such as PostgreSQL required

Overview

Do you want to help IBR build a portfolio of next-generation data collection systems? As a PHP Developer at IBR, you will support the Agile based engineering of robust, secure, and scalable enterprise solutions for the Federal government hosted in AWS. This position will work closely with multiple teams to design, code, test and implement application features and capabilities and includes refactoring a legacy ADF Java / Oracle RDBMS application to use the Laravel framework.  

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of staff to design, code, test, and debug applications
• Software development with Laravel PHP framework and Vue.js
• Will be involved in the development, architecture, design of complex web applications
• Develop using Laravel framework applications using Agile methodology
• Design data models and web APIs and creation of software tasks from system requirements.
• Perform requirements analysis, design, development, unit, and integration testing of software, troubleshooting and debugging of the system.
• Immediate responsibilities will include enhancing and maintaining the existing system as well as design, development, and documentation of new features.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and specifications
• Usage of Agile project tools for day-to-day tasks within the Scrum process
• Implement web services, data persistence access features and external interfaces.
• Partner closely with front-end and database engineers to ensure features are developed holistically.
• Follow Agile software development methodology and team architecture standards.
• Mentor junior developers, maintain code standards and perform code reviews to ensure code quality

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering related field
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance
• 10 years software development experience including extensive development experience using PHP development, Laravel framework, Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS
• Expertise in relational databases (RDBMS) such as PostgreSQL desired
• Familiarity with AWS Cloud, CI/CD, containerization and related technologies (i.e. Gitlab, Docker, Jenkins, Ansible, Kubernetes, Terraform) and scripting languages (Python, Bash, Powershell, Perl)
• Experience working with DevOps and/or DevSecOps teams to align product releases with established update cycles.
• Experience with design, development, enhancement, troubleshooting and debugging of web applications.
• Experience interacting with operations support to resolve any urgent issues/bugs to the point that they are fully remediated.
• Experience developing and integrating complex software systems through the full SDLC.
• Experience with Agile Scrum
• Experience leading and mentoring junior team members

Physical Demands

Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for manipulation of keyboard and mouse.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily indoors at a well-lit office environment. The environment is normally air conditioned, but conditions may change dependent upon circumstances. Work may need to be performed in a fast-paced environment requiring quick thinking and rapid judgements. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
