What are the responsibilities and job description for the TEACHER - Upper School English position at IC Imagine?
Licensed, dedicated Upper School English teacher needed at IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville, NC. The teacher is expected to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive English program for high school students and prepare experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher should also be prepared to provide leadership and coordination, as well as facilitate the efficient operation of the English program and collaborate with the English department.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of English 9-12 course material
- Certification in AP Language or Literature preferred but not necessary
- Participate in Standard Based Grading practices
- Utilize Google Classroom as a platform for the content in your classes
- Prepare students for participation in state assessments
- Collaborate with colleagues and demonstrate cooperation within the school community as well as additional disciplines throughout the school
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
- Frequent written communication with parents and families of Champions
- Regular and consistent communication with colleagues and administrators
- Plan and facilitate student field trips to provide enrichment opportunities
Job Duties:
- Use resources necessary to plan, implement, and evaluate instructional practices necessary to follow the guidelines of the NC Standards for all courses taught.
- Design instruction appropriate for all students that reflects an understanding of relevant content and is based on continuous and appropriate assessment.
- Collaborate with other collegiate leaders, support staff and the IC Imagine community to enhance the educational opportunities for all students.
- Follow the processes laid out in the faculty handbook, respond to emails in a timely manner, keep grades updated weekly, and correspond regularly with families with pertinent information for courses taught.
- Perform additional duties including, but not limited to supervision during non-instructional time, attending after-school events and meetings, participating in enrollment activities during and leading into the Open Enrollment period.
- Adhere to all legal and ethical requirements of the teaching profession and set an example for others to do the same.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid North Carolina teaching license
- Background check required
- 1-year teaching experience preferred
- Pay depends on experience and certifications. IC Imagine uses its own board-approved salary scale.
