Job Description
phlebotomy, collecting, preparing, and processing specimens biological specimens.
Assists in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks. Aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies.
May be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results.
Ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment.
Adheres to established internal standards and procedures abstracted from Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Adheres to relevant policies and ethics for clinical laboratory testing.
Demonstrates an understanding of the underlying concepts and values of a service organization.
Displays strong personal commitment to organizational success, inspiring others to commit to shared goals. Follows pre-established patient safety guidelines. Maintains cleanliness or sterilization of self and objects in order to prevent infections.

Participates in collecting and processing specimens (e.g., blood) according to test requests.
Equipment utilized in the unit/dept.

The phlebotomist use a rover device to monitor the needed blood collections and to help verify patient identity.
Floating to over units/departments.
This is a hospital-based job, the phlebotomist is expected to cover all area of the hospital that care for patients.
Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.

Requirements
Min 1 years recent phlebotomy experience. Must have the ability to do venipuncture on all age groups from babies to geriatric, using both vacutainer system and using a syringe. Venipuncture, Heelsticks, blood cultures, use of needle, syringe, vacutainer, butterfly devices.
1 year experience. Knowledge of lab tests and tubes
Must be able to work at a fast pace and able to move around the hospital quickly.
When working nights, will be the only phlebotomist working.
Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required:
Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

A phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required, BLS - AHA is required
