Overview
The Research Manager will be a critical leader and contributor to IDC's world class Artificial Intelligence and Automation team, focusing on the creation of unique, insightful, and relevant market research and advisory services for supplier and buyers of knowledge discovery solutions. IDC's Knowledge Discovery program analyzes the technological capabilities, market trends, and buyer needs surrounding the evolution of search into knowledge discovery. Knowledge discovery systems use a combination of AI/ML, NLP, ontologies/taxonomies, and techniques such as semantic knowledge graphs and vector search to analyze various structured and unstructured forms of data from different repositories and surface contextualized insights proactively. In this role, you will be expected to drive IDC research agenda and fulfill it using both qualitative and quantitative market research methods.

Responsibilities
- Build and grow the knowledge discovery market research program through thought leadership, world class research execution and innovation, business development, inquiry support, and general business execution both independently, and through collaboration with IDC colleagues worldwide
- Assure that the research, inquiry, and market influence requirements of the programs are met
- Support client inquiry related to research deliverables and topics pertinent to research
- Coordinate and create the research agenda
- Lead and/or contribute research and thought leadership to consulting projects
- Lead business development and the identification of opportunities for syndicated research subscription and custom consulting projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree a plus
- 3-5 years of previous data technology-centric market research, product management, product marketing, technology user or related experience desired
- Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (SPSS a plus)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills applied to writing short- and long-form reports and delivering online and in-person presentations to audiences of various sizes
- A self-starter with proven project management, and time management capabilities
- An eye toward attention to detail and the ability to communicate data analysis through written reports and verbal presentations
- A positive, entrepreneurial attitude with the ability to bring vision, creativity, and strategic thinking to the design and management of high-profile research projects while working under pressure and with competing deadlines
- Proven business development capabilities needed to build and grow a new research practice area in collaboration with IDC's global sales group
- Ability to travel (15-20% of the time, post COVID)
- This position is based in the Needham, MA Headquarters
