Responsibilities
IDEMIA is seeking an energetic and motivated Lead Proposal Writer who has strong leadership skills as well as strong written communication skills. The Lead Proposal Writer is responsible for leading a writing team (currently three writers), assigning resources and ensuring best practices and processes are adhered to. This role would include personnel management including goals and objective setting and performance reviews. Other responsibilities of the Lead Proposal Writer include writing and editing non-technical and technical narrative sections of proposals in response to solicitations from local, state, and federal government agencies. Under the direction of the proposal manager, the Lead Proposal Writer is responsible for reviewing solicitation documents and guiding the template development process. The writer participates during planning sessions to fully understand customer requirements and how to best position the proposal response. They must be able to successfully work cross-functionally and virtually with technical and subject matter experts to develop winning, targeted, responsive content from outlines through final text. This person will author, proofread, and edit proposal content. They check color team drafts for consistency, clarity, and persuasiveness of the material. The desired deliverable is well written and properly laid out proposal sections that are compliant, concise, and compelling that earns the highest possible evaluation scores.
The preferred candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and able to successfully manage all facets of the proposal writing process under aggressive deadlines. The successful candidate must be able to work both as a team member and independently in order to meet deadline-driven schedules in a fast-paced environment. Extra effort during nights and weekends may be required to meet deadlines.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Mentor and inspire writers to produce high quality proposal content
- Demonstrate leadership in decision-making and strategy development in driving the team
- Ensure consistency in the performance of all writers
- Assign resources across proposals to ensure adequate coverage of active bids
- Suggest and implement changes/enhancements to current processes
- Write content that is compelling and compliant
- Review solicitations and create working document with annotated outline
- Work with technical and subject matter experts to generate responses that meet or exceed solicitation requirements
- Prepare documents for review teams
- Participate in review debriefs and revise text according to the recovery plan
- Work with graphic artists to develop conceptual images, standard process flowcharts, diagrams, and other graphics needed for written sections
- Apply a thorough planning approach to writing by using industry best practice tools and methodologies
- Present technical information in ways that are easy to understand and evaluate
- Achieve customer focus by integrating win themes, discriminators, proof points, and applying industry recognized best practices
- Manage document versioning and control
- Review and maintain reuse materials
Mandatory
- Experience leading a team of BD professionals, preferably writers
- Understanding of the writers’ role in the context of the business development lifecycle
- Demonstrate a high degree of care and attention to detail in ensuring proposal content is developed at the highest level
- Highly organized with demonstrated ability to recognize and comply with customer requirements
- 5 years of experience writing and editing proposal content that is compelling and compliant with RFP requirements
- Familiarity with standard IT terminology sufficient for comprehending and creating and editing technical content
- Knowledge of procurement processes, standard solicitation instructions, and proposal development methods
- Experience supporting competitive proposal efforts
- Strong proofreading and editorial skills with high attention to detail
- Able to support multiple responsibilities and proposals at once
- Experience working with virtual teams
- Expert level skills in the use of Microsoft Office
- Able to collaborate and work in a team environment
- Experience managing a team of direct-reports
- Experience with Privia, SharePoint, and Qvidian
- Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, journalism, communications, or technical writing preferred
- Training or certification in proposal writing or processes (APMP, Shipley, etc.)
