Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties which include assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and procedure as directed by the physician. Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with SMPA guideline. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assists in covering the front desk as required. Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response. Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act. Refers to and consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns. Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Team Responsibilities:

- Assist with daily clerical operations, including answering multi-phone lines and making copies of documents as necessary.
- Schedules patient appointments as necessary, return visits and Specialists.
- Clinical Responsibilities:
Ensures that patient rooms are kept stocked and clean; also ensures that equipment is kept clean.- Distributes referrals as necessary to physicians and insurance companies; keep proper documentation of referral requests/responses in patient charts.
- Pre-authorize prescriptions and clinical tests (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, etc.) as necessary.
- Phone/faxing patient prescriptions as necessary.
- Schedules tests as ordered by Provider.
- Contacts patients with lab results and sends letters to patients as necessary.
- Accurately performs clinical duties to include triaging patients, checking patient vitals, administering injections and venipunctures, and prepping patients for physician exam.
- Accurately performs a variety of clinical testing, including EKG, PFT, PAP, CLIA waived lab tests, ear irrigations, 02 sats, vision/color charts, and urinalysis/hemocult tests according to physician orders.
- Thoroughly and accurately complete patient information forms prior to physician meeting with patient; assist physician with chart as necessary.
- Adheres to SMPA Safety and Quality guidelines.
- Engage clients and families in the development and implementation of a care plan with evidence based patient education within the scope of practice
- Triage patient concerns in accordance with evidence based nursing judgement and within the scope of practice.
- Appropriate response to crisis interventions and emergency response
Leadership Responsibilities
- Acts as a professional role model and mentor when coaching new team members on clinic workflows as related to clinical processes.
- Serves as a resource to other members of the team for clinical work challenges.
- Demonstrates and coaches an exceptional patient interaction process.

Education:
- Completion of LPN/LVN nursing training from an accredited school of nursing. Minimum of one (1) year college or Technical School. Associates Degree preferred.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- Current state registered license for LPN/LVN
Work experience:
- Minimum of one (1) years working as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse required.
Knowledge:
- General office procedures
Skills:
- Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Abilities:
- Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions
Equipment operated:
- Office equipment such as fax machine, copier and telephone system

- Computer
Work environment:
- Works in a well-lighted, OSHA Standard environment
- May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases
- May be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances

- Must be ability to handle emergency or crisis situation
- Must be able to see with corrective eye wear
- Must be able to hear clearly with assistance
