Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities of the HR Manager:
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures
- Manage HR Compliancy at federal, state, and local levels & mitigate risk
- Develop and deliver employee & leadership training initiatives
- Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions
- Conduct workplace investigations, handling sensitive information & maintaining confidentiality
- Collaborate with IT, Legal, Safety, Marketing and Finance/Payroll
- Manage and administer employee benefits programs
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR matters
- Maintain accurate employee records
- Develop & maintain job descriptions
- Manage Job Postings & promote recruitment
- Manage the interview/hiring process
- Refine, manage & implement the onboarding process
- Manage the performance review process
- Encourage, support, and guide the professional development of employees
- Create initiatives & manage events that promote company culture & increase retention
- Create & Implement EEO, Affirmative Action & DEI efforts
- Manage & implement community outreach
- Research, learn and leverage new HR digital tools as needed
- Delegate tasks & manage others as needed
- Other HR related duties as assigned
Qualifications of the ideal HR Manager:
- Familiarity with employment laws and regulations
- Strong organizational, prioritization, time management, and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent interpersonal & communication (verbal & written) skills with acute attention to detail
- Calm, professional, patient, helpful demeanor; respectful and considerate of others
- Trustworthy and dependable, self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Ability to collaborate effectively & efficiently with colleagues as an HR leader
- Excellent listening skills, with a healthy balance of compassion & impartiality
- Resourceful and able to quickly navigate & adapt to relevant websites & portals
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, HR Information Systems (Viewpoint), and ATS Recruitment Systems
Preferred Education / Experience of the ideal HR Manager:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in HR
- Experience in the construction industry a plus
