Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the daily operations and equipment in a warehouse environment. The Lead Maintenance Technician also gives guidance, answers questions, monitors conditions of facility cleanliness, equipment and supports sanitation objectives. Additionally the Lead Maintenance Technician is knowledgeable in cleaning practices, levels of cleaning importance relative to equipment and facility surfaces, and educates team members regarding cleaning solution mixing and make-up.
Job Expectations:
Provides direction and mechanical support to the production line and bindery mechanics as required
Monitors all work in progress ensuring that a constant workflow is maintained
Maintains a parts inventory for machines by providing management with a complete list of parts to be ordered including the vendor to be used and the associated cost for each part
Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance program and ensures that maintenance occurs according to scheduled deadlines
Follows all departmental procedures as directed, keep accurate records of all work performed
Keeps informed of new technology and parts for all machines
Ensures that all elements of cleaning within the plant are being met
Cleaners and Materials - Lead Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring that all chemicals used in the plant are approved for such use and that all chemicals have current MSDS information on site
Pest Control - Lead Maintenance Technician will support the pest control program
Partners with Facilities Manager on special projects as needed
Ensures a safe and clean work environment
Maintains confidentiality
Adheres to work schedules in completing and performing assigned tasks
Provides training and work direction to all Maintenance Technicians

Equipment Knowledge:
General understanding of conveyor systems and motors.

Knowledge of Perfect Pick system and HMI system.
Experience Requirements:
Generally requires a minimum of five (5) years of maintenance technician or related experience with a minimum of two (2) years progressive manufacturing/distribution industry experience preferred. Knowledge of GMP and food sanitation preferred.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma required. An Associate’s Degree in mechanical or related field preferred.
Judgment/Reasoning Ability: Able to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy. Ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when to escalate issues, as required, in a timely manner.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, bend, stoop and reach with hands and arms. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to store materials throughout the work day. The team member may occasionally lift or move materials and products up to 80 pounds. Proper lifting techniques required.
