A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RESTAURANT GENERAL MANAGER
As a Restaurant General Manager, you monitor the daily activities, performance, and workload of your team. Your style of management fosters teamwork, respect, accountability, and trust. As a direct supervisor to the assistant manager, crew chief, and hourly team members, you are responsible for rewarding and disciplining team members, addressing team member complaints, and resolving problems. You also execute annual financial, local restaurant marketing, guest service, and human resource objectives for your assigned unit. When needed, you make a daily run to the bank to handle finances. As you manage the restaurant floor, you focus on regular contact with guests and handle complaints in a professional and timely manner. Always looking for ways to streamline operations, you create, implement, and monitor company procedures.
In addition, you help with the recruitment, training, and retention of all team members to keep your food service team going strong. You ensure that there are always adequate levels of food, paper, kitchen, safety, janitorial, uniform, linen, and other miscellaneous supplies. Staying in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations is of the utmost importance, which is why you are diligent about correct sanitation practices and safety measures being maintained. You ensure that the equipment and the building are in working order and that they continue to comply with federal guidelines. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A RESTAURANT GENERAL MANAGER
- 2 years of management experience, preferably in a fast-paced, casual dining environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation for bank runs
- Willingness to undergo a background check upon hire
- Leadership skills
