Summary
Receives and pays out money, and keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions by performing the following duties.

Experience and Skills:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the position.

  • Responsible for greeting allbank customers, as they enter the branch, in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Operates a teller window to process a variety of transactions within established guidelines, such as processing individual and commercial deposits, savings and checking transactions, cash advances, loan payments, charge card payments and other transactions.
  • Performs various customer service activities, such as preparing money orders, cashier’s and traveler’s checks, accepting applications for U.S. Bonds, automobile license plate/renewal stickers, process commercial deposits, and sell coin and currency orders for commercial customers.
  • Enters customers' transactions into computer to record transactions, and issues computer generated receipts.
  • Assist customers with questions regarding their accounts; Places holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
  • Orders daily supply of cash, and counts incoming cash; Balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer and compares totaled amounts with data displayed on computer screen.
  • Removes deposits from, and counts and balances cash in, automated teller machines and night depository.
  • Participates in maintaining good customer relations by giving courteous, efficient service and developing new business by acquainting non-customers with bank services and presenting current customers with additional services; Identifies and responds to these cross-sale opportunities by referring customers to the appropriate bank personnel.

Education and/or Experience

High school degree or equivalent required; Six months to one year related experience and/or training required in area of cash handling or customer service.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Requires ability to communicate effectively and clearly (both written and verbally); Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

 

Mathematical Skills

Requires ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability

Requires ability to use good judgment in making routine and complex decisions; Must have excellent customer service skills with the ability to sell products and Services; Ability to accurately handle large sums of cash; Must be goal oriented and able to achieve individual goals as well as work as a team player to achieve departmental and/or Bank goals; Flexibility is necessary with the ability to adapt in an ever changing environment.

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, with an ability to quickly learn other bank related programs
