Position Overview
The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a motivated individual to assist with paraprofessional duties in our Hiring Unit. The incumbent in this position will conduct duties such as: compiling hiring and interview files, verifying and requesting required documentation, sending electronic correspondence, scheduling interviews, maintaining an organized and accurate filing system, and coordinating virtual and in-person interviews. This position will also serve as a backup interviewer and assist the Statewide Hiring Process manager as needed. This position comes with an excellent benefits package and the opportunity for growth! Job Responsibilities
- Performs complex, confidential, specialized paraprofessional duties related to the Hiring processes.
- Performs complex, confidential, specialized paraprofessional duties related to the interview and selection processes.
- Reviews and files interview and hiring files to ensure documents are in correct order.
- Keyboards confidential hiring, open competitive interview invitation letters, personnel documents, forms, memorandum, and spreadsheets.
- Serves as backup interview panel member in the absence of division and Human Resources staff.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
- Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 30 WPM.
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)
- Prefers at least one (1) year of paraprofessional experience in a Human Resources department.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience utilizing an alphanumeric filing system.
- Prefers at least one (2) years of experience composing documents such as: memorandums, interview invitations, and/or personnel documents.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience acting as liaison between outside entities and executive staff.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience with Adobe and/or equivalent software program.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Word and/or equivalent software program.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Outlook and/or equivalent software program.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience with Microsoft Excel and/or equivalent software program.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience with Cisco WebEx and/or equivalent software program.
- Prefers the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to lift and move boxes weighing 50lbs.
- Requires the ability to pass an IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume, and sell cannabis in Illinois. The department provides extensive services to young people through a developmental, treatment-focused model of care that builds youth resiliency, engages families, and promotes community safety at the five youth facilities it operates across the state. IDJJ serves and houses approximately 150 youth and is responsible for approximately 500 youth on Aftercare in various Illinois’ communities.
