Position Overview:
We are seeking to hire an intern for the Illinois Department of Agriculture's communications department. Duties include assisting staff in creating press releases, social media posts, taking photos and producing videos for the Illinois State Fair.
This is a perfect opportunity for a student looking to gain experience in the field of communications, to be involved with one of the largest events that is held annually in the state of Illinois. The internship provides a one of a kind experience seeing how an event of this magnitude is covered by the media and how to handle the public relations demands that come with hosting the Illinois State Fair. This internship will take place during the month of August.

Job Responsibilities
- Participates in an agency-sponsored program for a period not to exceed four years.
- Assists professional staff in creating social media posts for the Illinois State Fair
- Assist in the Illinois State Fair Press Office by answering the phone, performing data entry, filing and answering basic questions from the general public.
- Assist in taking photos and producing videos for the Illinois State Fair.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school and active enrollment at a college.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Prefers experience working in a business or public organization creating social media posts.
- Prefers experience maintaining working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to successfully pass a background check.
Work Hours: 8am - 4:30pm/Monday - Friday(flexible work hours may be considered)
