Job Responsibilities:
Planning and Preparation
- Team planning of unit lessons and grade level curriculum using the Core Knowledge
- curriculum
- Strong understanding of Common Core Standards
- Knowledge of content, pedagogy, and child development
- Design coherent instruction and student assessments
Classroom Environment
- Classroom management utilizing a school wide positive behavior support model
- Create an environment of respect and rapport
- Establish a culture for learning
- Manage classroom procedures
- Manage student behavior
- Organize physical space that is conducive to learning
Instruction
- Differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each student
- Interdisciplinary approach to instruction
- Use of varied teaching strategies
- Use of questioning and discussion techniques
- Engage students in learning
- Use of effective formative and summative assessment techniques
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness
- Use of technology in the classroom
Professional Responsibilities
- Student data analysis and portfolio maintenance
- Effective parent and community communication
- Continuous professional development to keep up-to-date on curriculum developments and trends in the field of education
- Commitment to professional growth through participation in professional learning communities and development opportunities
- Participation in shared school-wide decision making
- Involvement in alignment committees and task-force
Exceptional candidates will:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Knowledge of school organization, goals, and objectives with special emphasis on teaching techniques
- Knowledge of Maryland Charter School Law
- Teacher Certification
- Ability to speak and write effectively
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
- Ability to think, work and teach interdisciplinary content
- Ability to work in an environment which emphasizes a Joy at Work management philosophy under which all Imagine School operate
Ideal candidates will:
- Have at least two years of teaching experience
- Demonstrate a passion for the education profession and supporting student achievement
- Possess a track record of collaboration, and evidence of effective teaching experience
