ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SPECIALIST

We are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance or accounting, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for efficiency.
Position Summary: As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for the accounts payable functions for an independent location and for a franchise location, including posting deal fundings and transportation payments on new inventory. This role requires a high level of precision and accuracy, coupled with the ability to work independently and harmoniously with others in a fast-paced automotive dealer team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts payable functions for an independent location and a franchise location.
- Transportation payments on new inventory delivered.
- Posting deal fundings.
- Process, verify, and reconcile invoices for various departments within the dealership.
- Ensure all payments are completed on time, including regular payments, ad-hoc payments, and emergency payments.
- Maintain and update vendor files, including contact information, payment terms, and tax documents.
- Generate and present reports detailing accounts payable status to the business manager on a routine basis.
- Assist in month-end closing procedures and ensure compliance with internal controls and policies.
- Utilize accounting software for efficient management of all payable accounts.
- Provide the title clerk with information on all purchased vehicles for the title list.
- Post all open items in accounts payable daily.
- Reconcile A/P statements and service/parts invoice payments.
- Work directly with dealership vendors to answer questions and analyze their accounts.
- Ensure compliance with government reporting requirements of payments to vendors such as forms 8300, 1099-NEC and 1099-Misc. forms.
- Assist A/R staff when needed.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
- At least 5 years of experience in an accounts payable role in the Automotive industry
- Proficiency in automotive accounting software (e.g., DealerTrack DMS, CDK, Autosoft, etc..)
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
Skills:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) related to accounts payable.

Hiring Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 annualized (DOE)
