POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Performing in a multidisciplinary small team environment using agile methodologies, the Data Engineer will support the development and integration of multiple data types across mission critical systems to perform Data Analytics and Business Intelligence focused on providing Federal customers with solutions, tools, and capabilities needed to turn data into actionable insights.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Developing and integrating multiple data types across a range of data sets and sources
- Performing day-to-day operations of systems that depend on data, ensuring data is properly processed and securely transferred to its appropriate location, in a timely manner
- Provide support for data migration, data engineering, and integration of existing systems.
- Evaluate current system designs and identify areas for improvement to create a system that is highly available and has low data latency.
- Plan and design the integration of various source systems and the migration of data between systems.
- Build and implement the source system integration and data migration plan.
- Developing, managing, manipulating, storing and parsing data across a data pipeline for variety of target sources and data consumers
- Writing code to ensure the performance and reliability of data extraction and processing
- Supporting continuous process automation for data ingestion
- Assisting with the maintenance of applications and tools that reside on the data driven systems (upgrades, patches, configuration changes, etc.)
- Working with program management and engineers to implement and document complex and evolving requirements
- Actively and collaboratively participating as a member of a cross-functional Agile/Scrum team while following all Agile/Scrum best practices
- Advocating for and adhering to lean-agile engineering principles and practices such as API-first design, simple design, continuous integration, version control, and automated testing
- Helping cultivate an environment that promotes customer service excellence, innovation, collaboration, and teamwork
NON-TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to pass a 7 year background check
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Clearance.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree (technology discipline) and 10 years technology experience with the design, management, and solutioning of large, complex data sets and models
- Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
- Technical proficiency with various database architectures, designs, and modeling
- Experience developing data pipelines from many sources for structured and unstructured data sets in a variety of formats
- Proficiency developing data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, and performing test and validation steps
- Proficiency with data manipulation using Python, R, SQL and SAS (extensive experience with Python preferred)
- Experience with Data Analytics and Data Visualization with Tableau, PowerBI or Qlik
- Experience developing Shell scripts on Linux
- Strong knowledge of big data analysis and storage tools and technologies (such as Hive, Hadoop, Kylin, Airflow, Kafka, Splunk, Spark, NoSQL, etc.)
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git
- Demonstrated ability to communicate across all organization and technical levels
- Strong understanding of Agile principles and ability to apply them
- Impeccable attention to detail

- Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic about implementing new technologies
- Critical thinker and perpetual learner with desire to build skillsets across a range of technologies
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Federal government experience with knowledge of Federal standards (specifically DHS)
- Demonstrated experience translating business and technical requirements into comprehensive data strategies and analytic solutions

Salary : $125,000 - $170,000
