Position: Information and Referral Coordinator
Status: Full Time, Hourly
Reports to: ILS Program Director
Position Summary: Provides Information and Referral Services and independent living services to individuals with disabilities residing in the agency service area. Will assist with the AT loans and demos housed in the Resource Center. Will assist assessment staff with scheduling appointments and data entry as requested and as time allows. Assists in developing, implementing and maintaining all activities related to the Resource Center. Assist in the development of internal resources to serve targeted groups, including rural populations, minorities and cross disability groups. Provides services to walk-ins and greets visitors to the Resource Center.
Position Expected Hours of Work: This is a Full-Time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Occasional evenings and weekends.
Essential Functions of the Position:
I&R Essential Functions:
- Will greet and assist individuals with disabilities, staff, and members of the community, entering the Resource Center, in finding needed resource materials.
- Provide appropriate and timely information and referral services to individuals with disabilities, staff, and members of the community on disability related topics.
- Conduct tours of the Resource Center and provide AT demos as needed.
- Complete agency required documentation in agency database.
- Participate in outreach/recruitment activities and presentations as assigned.
Disability Policy Change Essential Functions:
- Participate in individual and systems advocacy activities by voicing opinion at public hearings and educating public officials through letter writing of other appropriate means on issues relating to independent living.
- Actively participate in agency advocacy team.
- Present testimony on disability issues by writing, email, and fax, in person testimony to legislative bodies on the local, state and federal levels. This includes contacting congresspersons, senators and giving opinions on pending legislation.
- Assist consumers with their advocacy needs.
- Participate in Disability Policy Change Activities and Events.
Work Environment
- Work environment is generally performed in an office setting with minimal to moderate noise level.
