What are the responsibilities and job description for the Delivery Driver position at INDEPENDENT LIVING SYSTEMS?
Position Summary:
Our drivers are crucial to the safe and efficient driving and delivery of various products (meals, equipment, dry goods, supplies, etc.) to customer locations on an assigned route schedule. Using a positive, friendly attitude, our drivers build relationships with each customer and become familiar with their operations to meet needs and expectations.
Essential Functions:
- Pickup and deliver packages to/from customer locations in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate inventory of packages.
- Demonstrates and promotes a 100% commitment to providing the best possible experience for our members.
- Operates the truck on schedule and within the designated route.
- Operates vehicle in accordance with Independent Living System Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws.
- Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents checks and notifies supervisor of any observations.
- Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Supervisor.
- Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by ILS Management or Supervisor.
- Works closely with Supervisor to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notifies Supervisor immediately of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
- Notifies Supervisor of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, road closures, etc.
- Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process.
- Performs all duties as scheduled by Supervisor and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
- Shows respect to company and customer property.
Physical Demands:
This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and sitting for prolonged periods of time. Good visual and auditory acuity as well as good manual dexterity and the ability to be readily understood are essential. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Travel:
This position requires up to 100% travel. Frequently travel is the local area.
