Indiana Packers Corporation (IPC), a dynamic fresh pork processor based in Delphi, Indiana, is looking for a motivated Utilities Technician to work in our world-class processing facility. The Utilities Technician maintains, diagnoses, repairs, rebuilds, adjusts, and performs preventative maintenance to keep refrigeration, boilers, and water supply operational to ensure continuity of production. This position assists other maintenance personnel on their shift and is responsible for all necessary paperwork and documentation as they relate to the job

This Utilities position is needed for 8-10 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Some overtime as needed. Shift hours for this position are 10:00pm to 6:30am, this is a 3rd shift position.

The Utilities Technician position earns a competitive pay of up to $35.33 per hour, pay will vary based on prior experience.


Responsibilities

  • Operate ammonia refrigeration compressors, condensers, pumps, vessels, and associated equipment using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Make rounds and keep logs of daily operations and events for multiple engine rooms and refrigeration equipment
  • Completing preventative and corrective maintenance on various meat processing equipment
  • Systematically maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with various facility equipment and tools including ammonia refrigeration equipment using the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE, preventing, and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and Process Safety Management related items
  • Obtain RETA CARO Certificate and Boiler operator certification within 2 years of hire date and RETA CIRO Certificate within 3 years of hire date
  • Collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers by maintaining a positive work atmosphere.

Qualifications

  • Industrial Maintenance Degree preferred, High School Diploma with sufficient experience will be considered
  • Able to successfully pass IPC's internal mechanical or electrical maintenance test
  • Experience in operation and maintenance of Ammonia Refrigeration Systems (or Freon related industrial refrigeration systems) preferred
  • Strong reading, math, writing, analytical skills required
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Able to work 8-hour shifts and weekends, and be available for daily or weekly overtime, as necessary
  • Operate forklift and work from elevated platforms (willing to work at heights)
  • Willing to work in extreme hot (100 degrees), cold (30-40 degrees), wet, humid, and odorous environments

The following is desirable, but we are willing to train:

  • PSM 14 element awareness
  • Hazmat Certification,
  • RETA Certifications
  • HVAC experience with refrigerants R-22, R407C, R-507C and R-707.

This utilities position is in Delphi Indiana (6755 W 100 N Delphi, IN 46923), a short drive from Lafayette Indiana & Purdue University.
