Estimator - Building Materials

Position Summary
The LBM Associate must demonstrate great customer service at all times, demonstrate knowledge of lumber and building materials and basic hardware, and have organization and mutli-tasking abilities.

Major Responsibilities

The major responsibilities for this position include:
Ensure each customer/contractor of building materials and hardware receives outstanding service which includes timely responses, accurate quotes, and competitive pricing in-line with company guidelines.

Assist customers on the phone and by computer with building or hardware questions.
Maintain knowledge of the local market, customer base, seasonality issues, competition, and other specifics and peculiarities of the local market that may influence the business.
Help manage the inflow and outflow of materials in such a manner to ensure that inventory levels are adequate to meet every day sales as well as sales related to special orders.
Understanding and maintenance of budget as it relates to building materials inventory levels and must have a watchful eye for shrink issues with lumber and building materials.
Schedule the deliveries to provide a high level of customer service, with high accuracy, on-time and maximum protection from damage and material loss.
Act to solve problems immediately upon their discovery with building materials.
Create and maintain price sheets for special order products: siding, decking, etc.
Assist with merchandise displays of building materials and ensure that they are organized, well-stocked and appropriate for the season and customer needs.
Ensure returned merchandise in building materials is restocked to the correct product location on the sales floor/shed/yard, all damaged and defective merchandise is properly labeled and handled.
Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management.
Unload trucks and stock shelves. Forklift certification not required, will train
Continue to provide expertise in the rekeying of locks and rekey as needed.
Maintain a good working relationship with all vendor representatives and ensure you are up to date on all vendor trainings and vendor quoting systems.
Minimum Responsibilities
Maintain awareness of all ACE promotions and advertisements
Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card
Screen repair, rekey locks
Assist store associates and customers with hardware related items
Deliveries, unload trucks, stock shelves
Open and close store when needed

Minimum Requirements
The minimum requirements for this position include the following:
Prior experience with construction and building materials.
A commitment to service, excellence and customer satisfaction.
Ability to take leadership role in training.
Ability to communicate with associates and customers.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
Maintain composure while supervising multiple tasks and handling customer complaints.
Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong willingness to learn.
Knowledge of retail computer systems, electronic cash registers, MS Word, and Excel a plus.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
Physical Requirements

The minimum physical requirements for this position include:
Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
Move and handle product and fixtures throughout the store/yard, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth.
Must be able to climb up and down ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, lift up to 100 lbs., handle large odd shaped items, and stock items in overhead areas.
