Nursery Associate

General Summary
The primary responsibility will always be to go above and beyond to insure each customer has an awesome experience in our store. The Nursery Sales Associate will assist in the receiving, stocking, pricing of all merchandise and help maintain a clean and orderly merchandise presentation and overall nursery cleanliness. We seek an individual that is able to work flexible hours. Prior retail or hardware experience is a plus. Nursery/garden center experience and a will to learn is a must.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Customer Service:
• Provide a positive representation of the Ace Helpful Pledge
• Proactively assist customers in solving problems
• Greet customers entering and throughout the nursery. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the nursery
• Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor, work well with customers as well as associates
• Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively
• Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management
• Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of nursery layout and location of products
• Assist customers throughout the nursery with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time
Nursery Operations:
• Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment
• Assist with receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise throughout the nursery
• Assist with maintaining back stock levels
• Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the nursery and outdoor merchandise area
• Assist customers with the loading of merchandise
• Provide assistance to Department Specialists, i.e. price changes, special orders
• Ensure signage is current throughout the nursery
• Participate in store meetings
• Be professional in appearance and actions
• Perform all other duties as assigned
Education/Training
High School or GED equivalent.
Experience
Formal retail AND plant experience preferred. A will to learn is a must!
Physical Demands
Standing for long periods of time, walking, lifting (up to 35lbs) and climbing.

Plant knowledge and previous experience in gardening - retail experience is a PLUS
